Susanna

STUDENT ALUMNA, 2021

Confidence is a beautiful yet too often hidden attribute.

MMBay student aluma Susanna L. is a Class of 2021 graduate of MMBay, and recently matriculated at Claremont McKenna - a highly selective private liberal arts college in California. Susanna, alongside Lana N. (whose profile is also featured in our Raising Minds Stories), is a social entrepreneur and co-founder of SupplyHopeInfo - a nonprofit organization that has supported low-income students in the San Francisco Bay Area, by driving donations for school supplies during these last 30 months of the pandemic.

Susanna has this to say about how MMBay helped her reach her college dreams and also find the courage to start her own organization: “Minds Matter Bay Area and my mentors gave me exposure to dreams that I didn't even know I could have. There were so many colleges and careers I wasn't aware of, but MMBay put those opportunities in front of me and helped me believe that they could be possible for me. Being a part of MMBay, which is an education nonprofit, also helped me grow a vision to co-found my own organization. Seeing so many dedicated volunteers supporting kids like myself, it really inspired me to think about how I could give back, too.” Due to guidance from MMBay during the college application process, more than 90% of Susanna's college costs at Claremont McKenna are covered by scholarships.
